Dr. Juan B. Gutiérrez received his Ph.D. in Mathematics from Florida State University in 2009. He earned tenure at the University of Georgia in 2016, and since 2019, he has served as Professor and Chair of the Department of Mathematics at the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA). His research spans data science, artificial intelligence, multi-scale modeling of infectious diseases, population dynamics, and the mathematical modeling of social phenomena. In addition to his academic work, Dr. Gutiérrez is the author of “Extreme Conditions”, the first electronic novel in Spanish. He has received research awards across multiple countries and has published over 60 research articles. He is also actively involved in STEM education research and outreach, with a professional commitment to ensuring that the face of success reflects the diversity of the nation. Dr. Gutiérrez teaches courses in applied mathematics, mathematical biology, and data analytics.
